Homeschool Support

How I Can Help

Homeschooling is a unique journey for every parent, child and family.

With so many options, endless opinions and resources galore it can be challenging to know where to begin or how to make the best decisions now and for the future. It’s normal to have questions and value support along the way.

  • How much structure do we need?
  • What resources are worth our investment?
  • What groups and communities are available to us?
  • Where are people doing things that align with our needs and next steps?

I believe parents – whether they have been teachers or not – can confidently homeschool their children, and I offer a full spectrum of support to make it possible.

  1. I can do a FREE consultation about all those questions above for you to feel clear and confident about your homeschool journey next steps.
  2. I can also craft personalized resource lists – field trips, curricula, online links either general or organized to curricular goals and learning needs.
  3. I can design personalized curriculum to save you the bulk of that heavy work. Think of it like having meal delivery service where everything is prepped and ready for you to cook adding your own flavor.
  4. I can be a homeschool tutor/teacher for writing, math, executive functioning, job readiness or other topics.
  5. I can be your homeschool evaluator connecting at any point in your year and working with you at the end of the year to complete paperwork.
  6. I can be a homeschool curricular companion/coach (quarterly, bimonthly or monthly) crafting curriculum, planning field trips, even teaching lessons.

The homeschooling journey can be filled with wonder and curiosity, adventure and discovery, growth, skill-building and confidence.

Working with me means you gain precious time and energy to focus on the fun of this homeschooling journey with your kids through all the amazing ages and stages.

HOMESCHOOL EVALUATIONS

Part of the challenge of homeschooling is the judgment, worry, questioning – “Am I doing it right? Are we doing good enough?”

My goal with homeschool evaluations is take the judgment, worry and heavy feeling out of the paperwork and checklists. Ideally, this is a moment to take stock of the journey, make note of what lies ahead and celebrate the wonderful moments along the way.

THE PROCESS

  1. You contact me to schedule an evaluationfor either in person or on Zoom.
  2. I’ll send you a brief questionnaire that helps me better understand your homeschooling approach, evaluation needs and potential materials for the evaluation. You can, of course, ask any questions you may have at any time in his process.
  3. I send you a proposal and invoice for your approval that is based on your approach, needs and number of children receiving a homeschool evaluation.
  4. Once payment is received, I put you on the schedule.
  5. You and your child gather materials to share the story of your homeschool journey with me. These can include photos, videos, projects, papers, online docs, workbooks and more. These can be shared digitally or in person. I am here to help you know what and where valuable evidence you can find to gather. If I work with your child as a teacher, tutor or coach or with your family as a curricular support, I would also be able to support with this recordkeeping step.
  6. We meet and have a conversation using the guidelines I give you ahead of time and the materials you have gathered as talking points.
  7. I complete, sign and give you two copies of all evaluator paperwork for you to have and submit.

What I Bring

I hold an up-to-date teacher certification in Pennsylvania.

I have almost two decades of experience teaching in private schools, all grade levels and all subjects. I have worked with learners of all needs and families with various approaches to education. My experience and strengths are in support for diverse learners and families, curriculum design and brain-based learning. I know humans learn from all manner of experiences and have a background in project based, real world learning.

Beyond the extensive teaching experience, I am also a homeschooling mom of two teenagers with different needs, interests and paths. I know the needs of the children are balanced with the realities of family schedules and more. I am grateful to have my teaching experience, and I still have moments with questions and doubts like any parent. I come to my work with homeschooling families from a place of compassion and non-judgment because I am part of a homeschooling family.
