Sheila’s birth experience homebirth experiences, and all that came before, put her on a path of seeking a simpler, more connected way. The births of her two children and subsequent postpartum struggle led her to start A Living Family local Meetup, and later an online community, to create a community for other families seeing to consciously live and love differently than their unconscious programming would have them act. Sheila’s certification as a Birthing from Within Birth Art Process Facilitator and Birth Story Listener and my work towards Birthworks educator certification, served to deepen and diversify her approach towards working with all people in all situations, living all kinds of lives.

Sheila draws on her personal experiences to bring pure heart to her professional work. With compassionate non-judgment and intuitive care, Sheila skillfully cultivate courageous connection, fulfillment and freedom within and without. This Mindful Self-Care Guide is about YOU. Nurturing You means growing a garden of your own personal beliefs, chosen habits, guiding values. Nurturing You means uprooting beliefs stemming from other people’s ideas and planting beliefs of your own choosing. Nurturing You means watering your own garden, nourishing your whole self, and caring deeply about—and for—You. The focus of Mindful Self-Care is not about changing what you do; it’s about changing how you think and feel about what you do. This isn’t about perfection. This is about presence. Mindful Self-Care is about being present with all that is within you. Your feelings, needs, wishes, thoughts, and dreams. This Nurturing You Mindful Self-Care Guide is about uncovering your deepest desires and what matters most—those things that will help you cultivate a thriving You.

The focus of Mindful Self-Care is not about changing what you do; it’s about changing how you think and feel about what you do. This isn’t about perfection. This is about presence. Mindful Self-Care is about being present with all that is within you. Your feelings, needs, wishes, thoughts, and dreams. This is about uncovering your deepest desires and what matters most—those things that will help you cultivate a thriving You. This is about letting go of rules and limiting beliefs and living fully in the moment. All the “supposed to,” “should,” “have to,” and “what will people think” thoughts affect us in deep, and even unconscious, ways.

Most of us are living in a world of rules. You are following conscious and unconscious rules about your life and yourself. As you mindfully choose for yourself, based on your own inner wisdom, you can courageously align your life with your values by saying Yes to You. It is through these tiny tweaks and courageous actions that your life shifts. It is a life experience of deep confidence, joy, connection, and peace that I wish for you. I share this book because I know all that is possible as a result of Nurturing You with Mindful Self-Care.

Nurturing You is a way of caring about—and for—yourself that affects how you feel, think, and talk to yourself. This, in turn, affects the people around you and how you see the world. Your life and relationships can shift. You can move towards the life you envision for yourself. You can allow yourself to be… to be accepted, appreciated, nourished, and nurtured by the person that matters most: You. You can dare to dream. You matter. And you are enough. Exactly as you are. Welcome, dear one, to Nurturing You!
